Weekly yoga classes are invaluable, especially if they are supplemented with some practice at home. However, our practice can go substantially deeper if we occasionally give it more time and space to unfold.
I will be teaching a yoga workshop on Saturday 3rd July 2pm-5pm at the Yoga Rooms. During this workshop we will explore both the practice of asana through dynamic movement and stilling postures, and the Buddhist teachings of mindfulness, looking at a Buddhist text called the Udana. We will see how these teachings can infuse our time on our mat and create a more spacious, creative response to our lives. There will also be a chance to be introduced to a meditation practice.
To book a place contact Manjunaga: manjunaga.yoga@gmail.com or 07914 304402. Full workshop price is £25/£20 non-refundable.
At Dhanakosa retreat centre: 10th-17th Sept 2010
Manjunaga will be joined by his friend Dhiramati, a very experienced yoga and meditation teacher, and also very entertaining!
Dhanakosa, with its loch shore location in the Loch Lomond & the Trossachs National Park, provides a quiet and beautiful setting for retreats. The centre is just 90 minutes drive from Glasgow or Edinburgh and is easily accessible by public transport.
For more information visit the Dhanakosa web site.
"I would thoroughly recommend a weeks retreat at Dhanokosa, a fantastic opportunity to slow down, reflect and unwind. As a first timer to retreats I wasn't sure what to expect, but as soon as I arrived I felt welcome and quickly settled in. What's fantastic about the retreat is having a whole week to relax, practice yoga and meditation with like minded people. Whilst Manjunaga's yoga was suitable for beginners, it also offered enough of a challenge for individuals who had been practicing regularly.
Dhanokosa looks over Loch Lomond and I had plenty of time to explore the beautiful surroundings, dip my toe into the loch and walk the surrounding hills.
After a weeks retreat at Dhanakosa I felt revived mentally and physically."

I am a sixty year old rock climber and started attending yoga classes to gain more flexibility. Practising with Manjunaga has certainly improved my flexibility, however he has also shown me that there is more to yoga than that. His classes have helped me improve my physical and mental strength which I am successfully applying to rock climbing and everyday life.
